Every day, our team of experts selects thought-provoking topics for discussion. While our focus is primarily on political matters, we also delve into sports, technology, and business. We then scour the internet to find four distinct and stimulating opinion pieces rooted in facts, albeit sometimes a specific interpretation of them. These op-eds present arguments from various sides of the debate. In our app, we present these topics side-by-side, allowing you to engage with them through our unique "spectrum" feature.
- To explore left-leaning arguments, swipe LEFT.
- To examine right-leaning arguments, swipe RIGHT.
We organize and categorize these opinion pieces based on the substance of the arguments put forth, rather than the reputation of the publication. For instance, if a traditionally liberal publication features a conservative op-ed, it will be placed on the right side of our spectrum.
After carefully selecting an opinion and placing it on the spectrum, our team member reads the article thoroughly to identify the three most significant points. These points are then presented in a concise bullet point list for easy reading.
In addition to opinions, our team provides a set of relevant facts for each topic. These facts aim to offer an objective overview to help you stay informed before engaging with opinions.
Using the Abridge News app is simple:
- Swipe back and forth to scroll through the topics, arranged chronologically with newer topics appearing first.
- Apply category filters to focus on your preferred types of topics: Politics, International, Sports, Culture, Business, and Science + Health.
- Utilize our search archive to find topics related to specific terms like Immigration, Mueller, LeBron James, etc.
- Once you find a topic of interest, scroll down to read our "Quick Facts."
- Proceed to our "Opinion Spectrum" to explore four arguments representing different sides of the debate. Swipe left and right to switch between opinions.
- Express your own viewpoint by reacting to each opinion piece. Choose from a range of options including "I strongly support this," "This doesn't provide the full picture," "I agree with some, but not all." After expressing your view, you can view a summarized breakdown of other users' reactions to see if others share your interpretation.
At Abridge News, our mission is to promote empathy and critical thinking in the world by highlighting diverse perspectives. We sincerely hope you enjoy our app and would greatly appreciate it if you could provide us with your valuable feedback through a review. Thank you!- The Abridge News Team
